Heated 3D Torso
A life-size mannequin torso coated in IntelliParticle HeatPaint that holds a true human thermal profile of approximately 35°C. Dress it, position it and power it up – and give your trainees a target that reads like a real person through a thermal sensor.
A Realistic Human Figure for Field Training
IntelliParticle is developing an innovative heated mannequin torso to bring realistic human figures into field training. Unlike a flat target, the 3D torso has a true human shape – head, neck, shoulders and chest – and the entire surface is heated to hold a lifelike body-heat signature.

Built for Realistic Thermal Training
Thermal Observation
Practise detect, recognise and identify tasks against a three-dimensional human signature, day or night.
Realistic Scenarios
Clothe the torso and place it in windows, vehicles or behind cover – it looks right from the front, side and rear.
Sensor Testing & Evaluation
Assess thermal cameras and payloads against a known, adjustable human-temperature reference.

Heat Across the Whole Human Form
The painted regions of the mannequin are divided longitudinally into two distinct heating zones: the head and the body. Copper film electrodes run horizontally along the base of the torso, at the bottom of the neckline and at the hairline, and four coats of IntelliParticle HeatPaint are applied across the entire torso.
The result is even, full-surface warmth – no hot spots from embedded wires or pads – that transfers naturally through clothing, just like a real person.
| Thermal profile | Approx. 35°C across the entire torso (controlled environment) |
|---|---|
| Heated zones | Head and body |
| Zone resistance | Head 7 Ω, body 8 Ω |
| Electrodes | Copper film at the base, neckline and hairline |
| Coating | Four coats of IntelliParticle HeatPaint |
| Tested power | 15 V supply, 4.5 A current draw |
| Construction | Dense fibreglass mannequin torso |
A Clothed Human Signature
Dressed in a button-up shirt and run at 15 V for 20 minutes, the torso was imaged front and back with a FLIR thermal camera. The head and torso reached an average surface temperature of approximately 37°C to 40°C against a background of around 26°C, while the shirt covering the torso averaged 33°C – the same layered signature a clothed person presents.

Dial In the Signature You Need
Surface temperature is regulated by the supply voltage. Lower the voltage to reduce power and temperature; raise it for a warmer signature – so the torso can be matched to your requirements and surroundings.
Dress
Clothe the torso in the garments your training scenario calls for.
Position
Place it where a real person would be – a window, vehicle, doorway or behind cover.
Power & Warm Up
Connect the supply and allow 20 to 30 minutes for the HeatPaint to heat the dense fibreglass.
Fine-Tune
Adjust the voltage up or down to hold the thermal profile that suits your environment.
